Detailed
Description
Additional regulations for the city's synagogue. Hanau, city near Frankfort, saw its first synagoge when in 1603 Count Philip Ludwig II granted ten Jewish families a privilege (Judenstaettigkeit) allowing them to settle in Hanau, build a special quarter for them(Judengasse), and erected a synagogue, which was dedicated in 1608. In the 1840's only 80 Jewish families resided in the city.
