R. Moses Elijah (Weissberg) (d. 1837) was rabbi in Bodrogkeresztur from 1833 till his passing. Little is known of his personal life, he apparently came from Cracow. His scholarship and piety are attested to by R. Moses Sofer (Hatam Sofer) in responsa 14 (Even ha-Ezer) and respona 184 (Hoshen Mishpat) where he addreses R. Moses Elijah with distincion and honor. Among the Rabbis who officiated in Bodrogkeresztur include R. Zevi Hirsch Glanc (1826), grandson of R. Moses Teitelbaum, whose influence in the community made it a stronghold of Hasidism. R. Shaye Steiner (d. 1925), known as Reb Shayele, who lived in Bodrogkeresztur, was revered as a miracle-working rabbi.
