R. Isaac ben Joseph Shrem (d. 1872) was among the distinguished sages of Aleppo. He devoted his life to the study of Torah and worthy causes. A prolific writer, his works, in addition to Hadar Ezer, include Be’er Yizhak (Leghorn, 1864) in the Ibn Ezra’s commentary on the Torah; Likuttei mi-Pardes (Aleppo, 1873) on spiritual development according to pardes; Likkutei ha-Hakhamim (Aleppo, 1873), collected teachings on Genesis through Leviticus; Pi ha-Be’er (Jerusalem, 1878) on Mizrahi’s commentary on the Torah; and Likkutei Amarim (Aleppo, 1873). His novellae were published in Jerusalem in1928.
