Description		    Super-commentary on R. Abraham Ibn Ezra on the Prophets and Writings by R. Isaac ben Joseph Shrem. This volume, part two, is on Isaiah through Ezra. Part one was, apparently, never printed. The title page has a decorative frame and, in addition to stating that it is a commentary on the language of the Ibn Ezra lists those works of R. Shrem already printed. The title page is dated “in the majesty of holiness בהדרי קדש (625 = 1865)” (Psalms 110:3). There is an approbation from R. Hayyim Mordecai Labaton, R. Moses Sutton, R. Isaac Antebi, R. Repahel Samuel Nehmad, R. Abrham Laniado, R. Saul Dweck, and R. Shalom Casby. The author’s introduction follows, and then the text, in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words.

R. Isaac ben Joseph Shrem (d. 1872) was among the distinguished sages of Aleppo. He devoted his life to the study of Torah and worthy causes. A prolific writer, his works, in addition to Hadar Ezer, include Be’er Yizhak (Leghorn, 1864) in the Ibn Ezra’s commentary on the Torah; Likuttei mi-Pardes (Aleppo, 1873) on spiritual development according to pardes; Likkutei ha-Hakhamim (Aleppo, 1873), collected teachings on Genesis through Leviticus; Pi ha-Be’er (Jerusalem, 1878) on Mizrahi’s commentary on the Torah; and Likkutei Amarim (Aleppo, 1873). His novellae were published in Jerusalem in1928.
