Description		    Discourses on faith and reason by Aaron Margolis. There is a half-title page, A German title page, and a Hebrew title page. The German title page states that is Myschpete Emes oder kosmotheologie dogmatisch ergruendet und rationell erklaert followed by a quote in French from Victor Hugo. In contrast, the Hebrew title page describes the contents, stating that it is four discourses on different approaches to the subject of faith. To remove the murmurings תלונות of this generation from the earlier sages through righteous and true proofs. Two quotes, “For, behold, he who forms the mountains, and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought” (Amos 4:13) and, “And I will meditate on all your work, and muse on your deeds” (Psalms 78:13) follow. The title page is dated, “Acquire knowledge קנו דעת (630 = 1870).

There is a table of contents describing the four discourses comprising Mishpete Emet and a letter from the author’s son in praise of the work. The discourses are on the value and importance of Torah, and the obligation of every Jew to learn Torah; proofs against nature as a first cause; explaining halakhot that seem strange; and on the separation of the Karaites from rabbinic Judaism. The text, set in a single column in square letters, is given in the form of a dialogue.
