The title page describes R. Hananiah Isaac Michael Aryeh as a Sephardi Tohor. The verso of the title page has an introduction from his son Raphael Rahamim Nissan Aryeh. He relates who relates that the author, who was bringing his work to be printed, reached Constantinople, when he became ill and died. His son then took the text and brought it to Salonika to be published. In the colophon his son relates that hh stopped at sha’ar 25 for the work could not be completed when the author was called to the heqvenly yeshivah. He prays that he will have the merit to complete the work. The text is set in two columns. Ha-Mikkah ve-ha-Mimkar is in square unvocalized Hebrew, the commentary in rabbinic type. At the end of the volume are indexes with an attractive tail-piece at the end. There is an additional index leaf in this edition, unfoliated, that is not noted in the description of the work in the JNUL Bibliographical Project.

מעבר לשער: "הקדמת בן השני של הרב המחבר, אשר יצא עמו מהע"ק ירושלים". חותם: רפאל רחמים ניסים אריה, תקע"ג. בין השאר הוא מספר, כי בהגיעם לקושטא חלה המחבר ונפטר, והוא, הבן, הלך לשאלוניקי להדפיס את הספר. הספר נפסק באמצע שער כה, בתוספת הערה מאת בן המחבר רפאל: "לא הספיק לגמור המלאכה, כי נתבקש בישיבה של מעלה. והקב"ה יזכיני לגמור המלאכה". בטופס שבמוזיאום הבריטי (צדנר, עמ' 278) נוסף [1] דף: "ספר הפרכוס; פירוש רפפות, לרבינו האיי גאון ... שמצא ... זקני הרב רבי יעקב אריה כשהלך בשליחות מצוה בשנת הת ל"ט לבבל ... מכ"י של הגאון ... והעתיקם אות באות".
