Description		    High holiday sermons in German from R. Max Ellguther. The title page has a Hebrew heading, Divre Ahavah ve-Emet, but is otherwise similarly entitled Worte der Liebe und Wahrheit (Words of love and truth). There is a subtitle, Drei Predigt-Zyklen für Roschha-schona, Kolnidre, und Jom Kippur, that is a series of three lectures for those days. R. Ellguther is described as the rabbi of the municipal synagogue in Schlesien. His brief forward follows, beginning that his dear publisher requested that he write a preface to the lectures. He does not feel, however, that it is necessary, for given the nature of lectures, deeper prefatory remarks are required. He expresses the hope that his words, which were deeply felt in his synagogue, will be effective here. The lectures begin with a Hebrew quote from the Bible but, except for occasional phrases, are otherwise in German. The text is set in modern letters.
