Description		    Discourses and eulogies by R. Solomon ben Samuel Hakim. The title page has a decorative frame and states that it is excellent words, “sought out all by all who love them” (Psalms 111:2). “A word spoken in due season, [how good it is!]” (Proverbs 15:23); Pesah on Pesah, Hag b-hag, in a timely manner. “Sweeter than honey” (Psalms 19:11) his words are life to those who find them. This Kesai is Torah. It was brought to press by R. Raphael Hakim. Publication was in, “and all that you have åëì àùø ìê (607 = 1847) is multiplied” (Deuteronomy 8:13). The verso of the title page has prefatory remarks from R. Samuel ben Solomon Hakim, son of the author, paragraphs beginning with kesai. The discourses follow, in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words, which are in square letters. The subject matter is varied, encompassing teshuva (eight discourses), halbisha (ten), zekhor (four), Shabbat ha-Gadol (seven), matan Torah (five), and marriage (two). There are fifteen eulogies, followed by the indexes.

R. Solomon ben Samuel Hakim, a Sephardic sage who served as rav in Izmir, died in that location on 19 Sivan 5538 (June 12, 1838).
