Detailed
Description
Letter of ordination to R. Levi Isaac Miller.

R. Asher Anshel Weiss of Nusfalau (1882-1944) was born in Nagy-Rakocz to his father R. Moses Solomon Weiss, a noted disciple of R. Shmelka Klein. R. Asher Anshel received his early education from his father and at the age of 13 was accepted to the Yeshiva of the Arugat Habosem where he excelled in his studies. He then studied at the Yeshiva of the Shevet Sofer. After the death of his first wife who left him with 3 young orphans, he accepted the rabbinical position at Nusfalau which included marring the deceased Rabbi's widow with 10 her children. Over the subsequent years R. Asher Anshel had 8 additional children with her and raised a house of 21 children! Despite his family obligations he organized and led a yeshiva which became the most sought after institution in Transylvania. His erudite scholarship, friendship, and relations with his community and students were recalled by his disciples many years after his murder in Auschwitz by the Nazis.
