On mathematics and novellae on tractate Hullin by R. Saul ben Moses Mishel Luria. Ateret Sha’ul has a detailed appendix which addresses the work of R. Abraham ibn Ezra who, in addition to his Bible commentary and grammatical books wrote on mathematics and astronomy. The heading of this section of Ateret Sha’ul states that it is on what the ibn Ezra wrote on parashat Shemot concerning the segulot of the number ten. The text of this section is accompanied by diagrams and complex algebraic formulas.
The title page informs that the author was the rav and av bet din in שאוולאן and that his father was av bet din in קראקינאווי. Ateret Sha’ul is on Hullin on the gemarra, Rashi, and Tosafot. The verso of the title page has the censor’s approval in Cyrillic followed by three pages, five columns to a page, of the names of sponsors of publication of th evolumen. Next are the names of eleven rabbis who gave approbations for Ateret Sha’ul, and them the author’s introduction. The text is in two columns in rabbinic letters, excepting headers and initial words. After the novellae on Hullin aree likkutim on for a number of other tractates. The volume concludes with the section on mathematics.
