Description		    On the taryag (613) pekudei HaShem by R. Menahem Mendel Hartmann of Barislov. The title page describes Derekh Hukekhah as being on the 613 “The statutes of the L-rd (pekudei HaShem) are right” (Psalms 19:9), clearly said as a fiery law. Together with the seven mitzvot of the sages, who sit at the gates. Disocurses with the crowns of letters bright as sapphire. Engraved on the tablets ten commandments. Opposite them the commandments entirely clear. Explained in the manner of Pardes (peshat, literal meaning; remez allusions such as gematria, and notarikon; derash (homiletical interpretation;, and sod, esoteric interpretation). It is dated, “words of truth דבר אמת (647 = 1887)” (Psalms 45:5, 119:43). There are three pages of approbations from eleven rabbis, followed a note against unauthorized reprinting, an addenda, a note to the reader concerning minor errors, the author’s introduction, and a long preface. The text is in two columns in rabbinic type excepting headers and initial words. Printed with Derekh Hukekhah is kunteres Ma’adnei Hukim, meant to complete the former work. It has its own title page and is a clever recapitulation of the Ten Comandments, each letter of the Ten Comandments beginning the explanatory line. The volume concludes with twelve pages of names of subscribers enabling publication.
