Takanot eikh le-hitnaheg ke’et be-‘efer ha-nisrafim [be-‘avonotenu ha-rabim] by R. Menahem Mendel Kirschboim (1895-1942), Rabbi in Frankfort am Main, and the author of numerous responsa. This particular responsum, dealing with correct conduct in the presence of ashes of the deceased, was written on the 13th of Tevet, 5699 (January 4th, 1939) at the time that the Nazis returned cremated ashes to their families. The author himself was killed at Auschwitz in 1942. This responsum was printed at Defus Ranisnas in Cracow.
