Detailed
Description
The Haftarah which is read on Tisha b’Av (Jeremiah 8:13-9:23) is printed with a Judeo-Arabic commentary. A sentence of the vowelized Hebrew is followed by extensive commentary. Seven of the last eight pages consist of the story of Hannah and her seven sons told in verse.

The Uzan Pere & Fils Press was started by Victor Uzan (1863–?) a scholar and linguist who translated the poetry of several French poets into Hebrew. In 1885, together with M. Castro, he established a press in Tunis which published literary works in Judeo-Arabic.
