Description		    Novellae on tractates in the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmuds by R. Naftali Hayyim ben Meir Hurvits. Minhah Hadashah is on tractates Berakhot, Makkot, Sotah. The author’s introduction is printed on the title page. Which is dated, “you shall not rule one לא תרדה (640 = 1880) over another with rigor” (cf. Leviticus 25:46). Although not enumerated among the tractates for which there are novellae in the volume, the verso of the title page has hiddushim on tractate Sanhedrin. A brief note at the top of the page states that in order to avoid having a blank page novellae on that tractate has been printed here. These novellae on Sanhedrin are continued on the last page of the volume. Within the volume text is printed in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. The foliation, apart from errors, begins anew with each tractate. There are variant impressions of this edition of Minhah Hadashah, among the differences being that this copy does not provide the place of printing or name of the printer, nor does it have the approbations added to the end of the other variant. This clearly suggests that this is the earlier and rarer impression.

שם המדפיס השני על-פי ש. הלוי, ספרי ירושלים הראשונים, ירושלים תשל"ו, עמ' 139, מס' 348. בשער גם: לסדר ולפרט איש באחיו לא תרדה בפרך. איש באחיו בפרך=תר"ם, לא תרדה= תר"ם. ספירה ראשונה: חדושי מסכת ברכות. מעבר לשער "הקדמה", ואחריה: איזה גרירים [!] ממסכת סנהדרין. לדף כו, לג. דף יג - יג [צ"ל: יד]: דרוש יע"ל קג"ם... [ואחריו:] איזה גרגרים ממסכת סנהדרין. לדף נו, ס. ספירה שניה: חדושי מסכת סוטה. ספריה שלישית: חדושי מסכת מכות. דף [1,ב]: חידושי ממסכת סנהדרין. לדף לג - סט. ש. הלוי, מנחה חדשה שם, כותבת שהספר לא נגמר, ואינו כן, כי שומר הדף שבשולי דף השער מוכיח שדף זה נדפס על גליון אחד עם הדף האחרון, ואילו שומר הדף שבעמ' האחרון של הספר מתאים עם העמ' שלפניו. ראינו שני טפסים נוספים ובהם שער שונה. הושמטו מקום הדפוס ושם המדפיס. הקדמת המחבר הועברה אל השער, ומעבר לשער נוספו חידושים למסכת סנהדרין דף כ - סח. גם בין שני טפסים אלו יש שינויים רבים (בינם לבין עצמם) בשער ומעבר לו. באחד מטפסים אלו סודרו מחדש דף ט שבספירה הראשונה ודף [טו] שבספירה השניה, שהושמט ממנו גם סימן הדף. בטופס השני לא הוכנסו חדושי מסכת סוטה, ובספירה האחרונה ו, [4] דף. נוספו בהם (בדף [4 - 1א]) "(חידושים ממסכת) שקלים". בדף [4,ב] ניתנה "השמטה בברכות דל"א", ואחריה: מכתבי עוז מהמאורות הגדולים. ויען כי לא איתמר בפירוש הסכמתם על הדפוס... לכן הצגתיו בסוף הספר... המכתב הראשון מאת ר' חיים האלברשטאם, סאנז, ד ויצא תרכ"ז, והשני מאת ר' יוסף שאול הלוי נאטנזאהן, לבוב, א וישב תרכ"ז. נדפסו כבר בספרו מנחה חדשה... על הגדה של פסח, ירושלם [תרל"ט], עיין הגדה של פסח.. בדברי סיום קצרים, הבאים אחרי המכתבים, מגלה המחבר את שמו.
