Description
   Halakhic novellae on tractates by R. Moses ben Elijah of Lublin. The title page has a detailed ornate frame about the text, which states that those who learn halakhah have their weapons in their hand, sharpened arrows. Compounded of all types of condiments, novellae, stances, and dinim. Talmud, Rashi, and Tosafot, sayings and explanations as given from Sinai. From Bible, midrashim, commentaries, concise and straightforward. It identifies the author as being from Lublin, son of the author of responsaYad Eliyahu, currently resident in Hebron. It is dated, “He who is happy with his lot ה שמח בחלקו (5494 = 1734)” (Pireki Avot 4:1). There is an approbation from rabbis in Constantinople, R. Ephraim Navon, R. Hayyim Kimhi, and R. Abraham ben Joseph Rosannes. Next is the author’s introduction and then the text, which is in a single column in rabbinic type. Excepting headers and initial words. The tractates covered are Ketubbot, Shabbat, Pesahim, Rosh HaShanah, Megillah, Hagigah, Bava Kamma, Bava Mezia, Bava Batra, Sanhedrin, Berakhot, Gittin, Hullin, Zevahim, Menahot, Bekhorot, Niddah, the last being the most lengthy of the novellae. Then there are derashot on parashat and Bereishit. The volume concludes with an index. In the text (58a) the author notes the assistance given to his father in Vienna on their way to Erez Israel.

החידושים למסכת נדה נקראים בשם "שושנה אדומה". המחבר כותב על חידושים אלו (בסוף ההקדמה): "הרוב מזה כתב גאון א' שנת ת"א בק"ק הענא הרב... יודא [מילר], ז"ל, עם שלשה גאונים... ר' רפאל [ב"ר יעקב הלוי] ז"ל ומהר"ר ליב ז"ל ומהר"ר הירץ ז"ל". הסכמת רבני קושטאנדינא: ר' אפרים נבון, ר' חיים קמחי ור' אברהם ב"ר יוסף רוזאניש, תצ"ד.
