Description		    This is volume I of the Proceedings of the London Society for Promoting Christianity amongst the Jews, an Anglican missionary organization. Contents include: Patrons, the Committee, officers, directors, life members, resolutions of the annual meeting, rules and regulations, the annual sermon, the Report proper, an appendix containing correspondence including letters from the Field, and a list of contributors and a balance sheet. The content changes according to the usual pattern of the big societies, achieving its fullest form in the 1890s, with lists of books published, tables of stations, maps, and almost 100 pages of reports on the endeavour abroad. By the late 1920s they are only marginally slimmer. The Society changes its name to Church Missions to Jews before 1932.

The aims of the society were: 1) Declaring the Messiahship of Jesus to the Jew first and also to the non Jew. 2) Endeavoring to teach the Church its Jewish roots. 3) Encouraging the physical restoration of the Jewish people to Eretz Israel - the Land of Israel. 4) Encouraging the Hebrew Christian/Messianic Jewish movement [Source: http://www.christianzionism.org/print.asp?ID=12]
