The author was the Rabbi of Cong. B'nai Israel Congregation in Columbus, Ohio. In this volume he has written an apologia of Judaism which is addressed to the Christian reader. R. Weiss was also the author of other books, including: More light; a rational treatise on Biblical subjects (1892) and Talmudic and other legends: facts and fictions from olden times (1888).
