The subtitle reads: a practical handbook for Jewish women of traditional customs and observances. The book appeared in two volumes. Vol. 1: On women's duties and activities in the Jewish household. Vol. 2: On the personal duties of a Jewish wife.
The present volume is vol. 2 of this set. It discusses the laws of Jewish family purity, the laws of Niddah (ritual impurity), the laws of Mikvah (the ritual bath) and the special laws that apply to a bride and to a woman who has just given birth.
R. Harris M. Lazarus (1878-1962) was born in Riga, the son of Julius (Judel) Lazarus and Esther Golda Lazarus. He was educated at Jews' College, London, and became Dayan of the United Synagogue, Rabbi of the Brondesbury Synagogue, and deputy for the Chief Rabbi, 1946-8. R. Lazarus was President of the Sabbath Observance Employment Bureau.
