Description		    A highly regarded history of the Jews of Sicily by Giovanni di Giovanni. The title page of the book, which is in Italian, states that it is The Jews of Sicily, searched, and exposed (ricercato, ed esposto), by ricercato, by Giovanni di Giovanni, who is the Metroplitran chief of Palermo, and and fiscal Inquisitor of the supreme Inquizione of Sicily. There is a half title and full title page, the latter with an engraved devise, consisting of a woman in a chariot holding a chalice in her right hand and a cross in her left hand. L'Ebraismo della Sicilia is dedicated to Monsignor Giacomo Banano, the Inquisitor Generao of Regno and Sicily. His escutcheon (?) appears at the top of the page. The introduction begins below with an engraved decorative letter. There is a table of contents, followed by the text, which also begins with an attractive engraved head piece and a historiated letter. L'Ebraismo della Sicilia has, for the period, a relatively detailed index. The front end page and the half title page have notes in Italian in different hands, one dated 1890.

L'Ebraismo della Sicilia is considered an important source on Sicilian Jewry, being referenced several times by both the Jewish Encyclopedia and by the Encyclopedia Judaica. The latter, in referring to Christian scholars, includes Giovanni di Giovanni among them in a list of “well informed Christian scholars” and elsewhere as “One of the heads of the Sicilian Inquisition, Giovanni di Giovanni (1699–1753), was the author of the standard account of the Jews in the island.”
