L'Ebraismo della Sicilia is considered an important source on Sicilian Jewry, being referenced several times by both the Jewish Encyclopedia and by the Encyclopedia Judaica. The latter, in referring to Christian scholars, includes Giovanni di Giovanni among them in a list of “well informed Christian scholars” and elsewhere as “One of the heads of the Sicilian Inquisition, Giovanni di Giovanni (1699–1753), was the author of the standard account of the Jews in the island.”
