Detailed
Description
Four homiletic talks (Vier Reden) by Dr. S. Friedmann, rabbi of the municipal synagogue in Lublinitz. The title page is followed by a dedication to Dr. Oppenheim, the author’s honored father-n-law in thorn on the 25th jubilee (jährigen rabbiner jubiläum) as rabbi in Thorn, dated 20 January, 1883. Dr. Oppenheim served as rabbi in Thorn, a town in West Prussia, until 1891. Next is the introduction, listing the four talks, which are 1) Die weltregierung (the world government); hüttenfest gedanken; and Drei Fragen und ihre Beantwortung (three questions and responses); and Joseph und die Makkabäer, relating Joseph in Egypt to the festival of Hanukkah and the Maccabees. Each talk begins Meine Andächtigen (dear ones) and concludes with Amen. The text is in a single column in Fraktur.
