This booklet discusses the social and religious position of women in antiquity, including the Biblical period. It is part of a series called Sammlung gemeinverständlicher Vorträge und Schriften aus dem Gebiet der Theologie und Religionsgeschichte; 88 (the collection of lectures and writings in the area of theology and religious history).
The author, Dr. Georg Beer (1865-1946) was a professor at the University of Heidelberg. He was the author of numerous other works, including Kurze Übersicht über den Inhalt der Alttestamentlichen Schriften, Mose und sein Werk, Pascha, oder, Das jüdische Osterfest, and others.
