Announcing the departure of Viscount Gort (1886–1946), High Commissioner for Palestine, the head of the British Mandatory administration called the government of Palestine. Gort served as the sixth high commissioner only for one year, 1944 to 1945, and retired because of ill health.
Announcing the appointment of Sir John Valentine Wistar Shaw as administrator. He too did not last very long.
