Description		    Ethical work by the rishon (early sage), R. Isaac ben Eliezer. The title page states that this work will enable the reader to find “rest for their body and soul” (cf. Jeremiah 6:16); dinim and good deeds. It is of great benefit for the old and young as the reader can see. It is called Sefer ha-Gan for the one who is occupied with fear of Heaven, it is as if he has fulfilled all the parshiot in the Torah, which equals the number gan (53). Furthermore, all who are occupied with fear of Heaven merit Gan Eden. Also, any one who has evil thoughts is able to nullify them. Long unavailable this edition was arranged by R. Solomon Zalman London, whose introduction follows the title page. The text, in a single column in rabbinic type, is divided into seven parts, one for each day in the week.

R. Isaac ben Eliezer was an early sage remembered for his ethical writings. A resident of Worms, he flourished from 1460 to 1480. R. Isaac attended the lectures of R. Moses ben Eliezer ha-Darshan, whom he praises in high terms. Originally written in German it was translated into Hebrew by Moses Saertels.

פרט השנה שבשער אינו ברור, יתכן שיש להוסיף עוד שתי אותיות י למנין והפרט הוא תקכ"ז. אך לוונשטיין, ברשימת דפוסי פיורדא, מס' 115, רושם התאריך 1747. מהקדמת המביא לבית הדפוס: "והוספתי נופך משלי ... מה שמצאתי בספר ראשית חכמה [לר' אליהו די ווידאש] דברים הנוגעים ליראה".
