Description		    Philosophical and ethical work on reward and punishment and comforting Zion, by R. Malkiel Hezekiah ben Abraham. The title page describes it as a wondrous book explaining the words of the sages on the subject of Gan Eden and Gehinom for the souls and body after death. On the subject of pairs, and the subject of “the tree of knowledge of good and evil” (Genesis 2:9) that the Lord prohibited to the first man and the reasons for his sin. It enumerates additional subjects and states that its is from the words of the sages in the Talmud and Midrashim. Furtrhermore, it it was written by earlier sages and a part was brought in the holy work Shelah (ff. 177b) there explaining the concealed meaning of pairs. There is an introduction by the book to press, who states that he had longed wished to write a work explaining the words of the sages, how flattery is rampant and those who seek truth few. He came upon this valuable older work entitled Malkiel, which required explanation in many places. The text follows, is in a single column in rabbinic type.
