Detailed
Description
This is the will of Yaakov ben Pinchas Eliezer Goldman who not only writes what to do with his material possessions after his passing, but also clearly tells his children to be G-d fearing Jews. He writes that the children should believe with pure faith that the Creator, and only He Himself, conducts and does and will do all deeds…and that it is fitting only to pray to Him…and to believe in the coming of the Messiah and the resurrection of the souls.

He also states that he does not want his sons to say Kaddish or to pray before the Ark for his soul, "as what kind of Tikkun would that be for me?" He instructs that 350 marks and all his jewels and portable property should go to his wife, except for a pair of silver candlesticks and another silver item that belong to his son, Yechiel. Of the remaining 1050 mark, he wished first to give 194 groshen (equal to 19.40 mark) to Tzedakah because the numerical value of öã÷ is 194.

He further instructs where he wished to be buried (in Berlin), and details various other allocations. He requests that he be buried in the garment that he received as an inheritance from the Rebbe, the R. of Plantsh. He openly forgives anyone who may have sinned against him, and requests that anyone that he may have sinned against please forgive him.

He asks his sons to arrange for 10 people to learn Torah for a complete year after his death and he details that it be no less than three Mishnayoth per day. He asks his sons to supervise this learning so that those who are learning do not forget. He also asks that after the learning they say the special prayer for those who have passed away. He asks that they paid "from my pocket" and he suggests some possible people for this responsibility including his brothers, his nephew, his son-in-law, and friends.

His last request is that the gravestone only have written on it, simply, Here is buried…name…date. Any remaining funds he instructs be given to a fund that provides for poor brides.

The bottom of this will is entitled IN MEMORIAM. Yaakov Goldman passed away in Lodz while visiting his daughter, and this will was found on his body in his vest. The date was May 17, 1925, and he was in his 63rd year.
