Detailed Description |
|
Schedule of prayers for Yom Kippur in Mainz (Mayence; Heb. מגנצא), city on the Rhine in Germany. Mainz is one of the oldest Jewish communities in Germany. It is presumed that Jews came to the city as merchants in the Roman era and may even have founded a settlement there. Mainz was home to many of Judaism's greatest leaders and its customs date to midieval times. |
