Description		    Novellae on tractates in Seder Mo’ed by R. David ben Abraham Ghez., a Talmudist who lived at Tunis in the second half of the eighteenth century. He was a pupil of R. Isaac Lombroso and R. Zemh Zarfati. There is a title page with lengthy text, dated, “no good thing will he withhold from those who walk uprightly להולכים בתמים (5628 = 1868)” (Psalms 84:12). That the author was held in high regard is evident from the large number of approbations, from R. Shimon Ashkenazi of Safed; and rabbis of Tunis, R. Nathan Borgil, R. Samuel Zafag, R. Aaron ha-Kohen Tanugi, R. Abraham Hagagi, R, Shalom Hai Bashmot, R. David ben Attar, R. Joseph Nataf, R. Elijah Gabizon, R. Abraham Kalif, R. Solomon Paitusi, R. Elijah Borgil, and R. Hayyim Borgil. There are also approbations from R. Joseph Lombrozo, R. Daniel Cartoso, R. Abraham Abukara of the Portuguese community, Tunis. The text follows, in two columns in rabbinic type. The tractates for which there are detailed novellae are Shabbat, Pesahim, Sukka, and Hagigah. On the final leaves are briefer novellae for the other tractates in Mo’ed. The volume concludes (96a-99b) with an qaddenda with brief neovellae on several tractates both in Mo’ed and other orders of the Talmud. Although the title page and the final page describe this as part one this is all that was printed from R. Ghez’s novellae. It is the sole work of several that he wrote to have survived.
