Detailed
Description		    Derashot and hespedim by R. David ben Samuel Mueti of Algiers. The text of the title page, set within a double decorative border, states that it is derashim, sweet, of “strength and wisdom” (Job 12:16). It contains “reproofs of instruction” (Proverbs 6:23). These derashot were delivered on Shabbatot in the synagogue in the city of Argil (Algiers), five specific Sabbaths a year. He has called this book Yosef David, for “I cried to the L-rd with my voice” (Psalms 3:5), that he (R. Mueti) should have the merit to àåñéó and to publish additional works in the truth of the Torah in his lifetime. The title page mentions R. Joseph ha-Kohen Salmon and R. Jacob ha-Levi Bram who assisted with the publication of Yosef David. The title page is dated “and shall worship the L-rd in the holy mount áäø ä÷ãù (616=1856) at Jerusalem” (Isaiah 27:13).

There is an introduction, comprised of the names of those who supported the publication. It is followed by the text in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. The first derashot is on the exodus from Egypt, followed by dreshot on Shabbat Kallah, Shabbat Teshuvah, and Shabbat Hanukkah. There are more than one derashot on each of these topics. The final derashot is on the importance of tzedakha and ma’asim toveim.
