The title page informs that Ohev Mishpat was printed at the behest of the Sephardic community in Sighet and is dated “He loves righteousness and judgment אוהב צדקה ומשפט (648 = 1888). Below the Hebrew text it states, in Latin letters, that it is Ohew Mischpot and is dated 1887, reflecting the three month variance between the Jewish and solar years. On the verso of the title page the reader is informed that Ohev Mishpat can be acquired from Alter Zoltan by, in Latin letters, “A. Zoldan M. Szigeth (Ungaru).” There is a second more detailed title page, which informs that the dispute in Sighet in Maramarossziget in Hungary divided the community in half. Many honorable men, Torah scholars, belonged to the group called Adat Sephardim, while their opponents belonged to the Kahal Orthodox. There is a lengthy introduction (pp. 1-16) from R. Feival ha-Levi, Av Bet Din. The text is comprised of numerous responsa, letters, discourses, and other material related to the dispute, many from leading contemporary rabbis.
