Essays in Yiddish on the Jewish approach to and perspectives on mourning by R. Jacob Samuel Taubes. The work includes polemical attacks on the moral and ethical lapses in the Jewish nation. The title of the work is Der Hiev fun Aveyles. The verso of the title page states in English that it is The duty of Mourning: Essay. There is also an English title page at the end of the essay followed by a table of contents listing the fifty-five chapters comprising the work. Der Hiev fun Aveyles is a conceptual and intellectual understanding of mourning, and the periods, restrictions, and feelings attached to it. The text is in a single column in square Hebrew letters.
