Description		    Reformed Judaism polemic literature. The full title is, Festhalten am Gesetze, Fortschritt im Geiste : Eine Stimme in Israels heutigen Wirren / von einem Gläubigen. (Record of the law, progress in the spirit: A voice in of Israel current period of confusions/of a Belief. Neither the author’s name nor the date is given on the title page. The catalogue of the Library of the Jewish Theological Seminary lists author as I. Bonn. There is a forward, (iii-iv), dated the end of January, 1842, followed by the text in a single column in Fraktur. The forward notes the religious reaction to reform, and the text begins with a a reference to a newspaper article by the renowned Dr. Phillippson (Wir beginnemmit einer Beleuchtung der Erwiderung des herrn Dr. Phillippson in der Leipziger allgemeinen Zeitung). Although the text is almost entirely in German there is occasional Hebrew.
