Detailed Description |
|
A letter written in Hebrew and Yiddish (with a dividing line down the middle) with an appeal for monetary help from Jews in America for "your brothers, the children of Galicia" who are now living in Jerusalem, Safed and Tiberias and are known by the name Kollel Viznitza.
The letter begins by blessing the recipients with good wishes for the new year 5672 (dated Elul 5671). It then continues by saying that funds that had been raised in America being given specifically to those immigrants from Russia, and to the leaders of Kollel Drohovitch and that the monies raised even from people from Galicia are from places that belong to them (Kollel Drohovitch) (and therefore the money is going to Jews from Russia). The situation is so severe that the Kollel Viznitza is the Admor of Viznitz is collecting funds for distribution. 15 leaders of Kollel Viznitz sign the letter.
