Detailed Description |
|
A personal responsum to a private letter detailing the religious obligations of both physicians and patients. Dr. Saltzberg quotes from many sources, both in English and in Hebrew. Interestingly, one source from which he quotes extensively (Prout, W.T./On Hygiene and Sanitation) gives credit to the Laws of Moses for having elaborate directions as to the preservation of health by isolation of the sick, personal cleanliness and the prohibition of certains articles of food and credits these safeguards so that "Jews has shown an remarkable immunity from the ravages of epidemic disease" throughout history. Dr. Saltzberg was also the author of Introductions to the Book of Ecclesiastes. |
