This polemical poem is illustrated both on the cover and on page [2] with a drawing of a woman and a background illustrative of Israel. The text that goes along with it indicates that the illustration is of Mother Rachel, who is crying for her children (as per the verse in Jeremiah 31:15). Interestingly the source is credited as Jeremiah 31:14 (sic).
The poem is crying out against the secular people in the Holy Land. David Berdah (1916-1969) is also the author of many other books, including Vision terrible, Thora, ma vocation!, Chirat David, etc. in French and דקדוק שפת עבר : תורת הנקוד והתחביר בשלמותן (a book on Hebrew grammar) , תורה, משא נפשי! כתמר בידך ( another book of poetry), and many others. |
