The author was a Rabbi in Prossnitz beginning in 1897. Prior to that he had been the Rabbi in Misslitz from 1893-1897. He was also the author of a number of other books including Geschichte der Juden in Prossnitz, Geschichte des jüdischen Volkes für die Oberclassen der Mittelschulen, Les impots et droits de douane en Judée sous les Romains and others. R. Goldschmied later became an advisor on Jewish affairs to the government in Czechosalovakia. He died in 1935.
