Description		    Eulogy for the Admor R. Abraham Langnar av bet din of קניהניטש ben R. Judah Zevi Brandwein of Stretyn R. Langnar passed away on 28 Tamuz 677 in Pest and the eulogy was delivered by R. Elizer Siegel Mishel av bet din of Torka. Included in Betoch ha-Golah is Sefer Zikkaron, a list of rabbis who died during the first World War, and Zeker Aleh le-Ya’akov, eulogy for R. Jacob Mishel, the author’s brother. The volume concludes with responsa on moving the bones of a deceased and renting Sifrei Torah.

The Stretyn-Langner-Brandwein family is one of the great Hassidic dynasties of Galicia. R. Judah Zevi Hirsch Brandwein of Stretyn (d. 1854) was the founder ofthe hasidic dynasty in eastern Galicia. R. Brandwein was a scion of a prominent family of rabbis and zaddikim and the outstanding disciple of R. Uri (Ha-Saraf) ben Phinehas of Strelisk. After the death of his teacher, he left his work as a shohet and succeeded R. Uri as leader of the Strelisk Hasidim. Like his teacher, he emphasized the importance of ecstatic prayer. R. Judah Zevi Hirsch did not deliver many hasidic teachings, and only a few were collected later in Degel Mahaneh Yehudah.
