A letter given to a fundraiser, in this case Mendel Eckstein, to go raise funds for Mikvaot and bathhouses in Jerusalem. There is line down the middle of the page, creating two columns. The column on the right is in Hebrew, and the column on the left is in Yiddish. The columns continue to the back, and are signed jointly by the supervisory committee for Mikvaot.
The letter begins – please pay attention to our request, because the health and honor of Israel, the holy land, depend on it … Jerusalem is lacking one great thing…Mikvaot for women and bathhouses.
Signed Shlomo Zalman Levi, Asher Dov Zusman, Yehiel Michel Tukatzinsky, and others. Although R. Samuel Salant is not one of the signers…his name appears on the side of the front as part of the contact address for the Comite für Bau eines rituelles Teuch-Bades u.
