Description
Books of Hasmoneanm Judith, Shoshnah, Ben Sirah, and others with autograph signature of R. Jehiel Judah Taub of Rozdol. R. Taub (1887-1937), belonged to the Calov Hassidic dynasty. He was born in Linsk to Pinhas Hayyim, rabbi of Rozdol. He married Barachah Frieda, daughter of R. Moses David Ashkenazi of Stanislav. During his father’s lifetime R. Taub settled in Marghita in Transylvania, serving as rabbi there. Upon his father’s death, R. Taub, in accordance with his father’s will, succeeded him as rebbe in Rozdol. However, he rseded there for a short time only, becoming ill and passing away at the age of fifty in Grosswardein. He was buried in Marghita. R. Taub was known for his greatness in Torah and intensity in prayer. He wrote Lev he-Semeah ha-Hadash (Arad, 1936), as well as leaving over many works in manuscript, many ready for publication. His eldest son, R. Hanokh Heinokh Dov died at a young age in 1935. Two other sons perished in the Holocaust. Another son, R. Menahem Mendel Taub, admor from Calov, resides in Benei Brak, as do his daughters.
