Description |

Final will of R. Ezekiel b. Abraham Katzenellenbogen (c. 1667-1749), a member of one of the leading families of East European Jewry and noted rabbinical scholar. He was rabbi in several prominent European communities before being appointed to the prestigious position of rabbi of the three communities Hamburg, Altona, and Wandsbeck in 1714. R. Ezekiel wrote Knesset Yechezkel (Altona 1732) responsa on all four parts of the Shulhan Arukh and Mayim Yechezkel (Poryck 1786) homiletics. He served for 35 years until his passing in 1749.
