This is a manual for preparation for Bar Mitzvah by R. L. Hörter, who was the director of the Beth Zion religious school. The book is divided in chapters dealing with subjects such as tallith and tefillin, mezuzah, the reading of the Torah, the blessings for the Haftorah, the grace after meals and a basic Hebrew word list. It also includes a calendar for the years 1890 through 1950. The final section is musical notation for reading the Torah and the Haftorah.

The title page indicates that Dr. U. Garbatti and Jos. Fenerring were responsible for getting this larger and improved edition published.
