A German novel by a popular novelist. While the title page attributes authorship to Pauline Wörner, that is a pseudonym for Pauline Krone. She was born in Griebel in 1859 and spent her youth in Zurich, where her father was a university professor of theology. She lived for many years in Boetzingen and enjoyed popularity as an author. She also wrote Der WinzerSchutzherr (an historical novel) which was published in 1910.

In 1915 she was widowed and moved to Tübingen to live with her sister Julie Wörner. She worked for thirty years as the benefactress for many people in Tübingen. Her home was destroyed in a 1944 bombing, and she passed away in 1945. An old age (and nursing) home was dedicated in 1950 and named in her honor .
