A collection of poetry for the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) as well as for other festive celebrations in a Jewish home. (This is not limited to Jewish holidays. There is, for example, a poem on the occasion of the father's birthday). Moritz Scherbel is also the author of Wünsche, Gelegenheitsgedichte und Tischreden zu allen religiösen und Familienfesten, besonders im jüdischen Hause (Gumbinnen, 1901).
The title page does not provide a date. World Cat gave the estimated date as 1800, but the Jewish National and University Library lists it as 18--, and because his other book was published in 1901, it is more likely that this title was printed at the very end of the nineteenth century.
