Detailed Description |
|
Musical notes for synagogue recitation year round by Cantor Gershon Schaposchnik (1902-1972), the lead cantor of the Jewish Community in Istanbul between the two World Wars. He served the community for 40 years, it is said, that even the Christian priests would come to hear him chant Kol Nidre on Yom Kippur. A composer and author, he adapted works of Russian and European classical composers to prayers. Many of his tunes have become very popular and are song to this day.
