Detailed
Description
Constitution and bylaws of the Budapest Orthodox Jewish community in German in Hebrew letters. Reprinted from the 1870 first edition. Budapest, the capital of Hungary, was formed officially in 1873 from the towns of Buda, Obuda, and Pest, which each had Jewish communities. The Orthodox community established itself separately in Pest in 1871, to detach from the Reform minded Neolog community. R. Koppel Reich became its rabbi in 1886, and a member of the Hungarian upper house in 1926.
