An Apikoros (a heretic) is one who does not believe in the basic tenets of the Jewish religion, and this is a collection of anti-religion articles, edited by Baruch Fenster. Page 4 has a masthead of sorts, which gives a fuller title to this publication. It is:
דער אפיקוירעס: אן אינסטרומענט געגן רעליגיע, אויפקלערונג הומאר סאטירע
Der Apikoros – an instrument against religion: a compilation of humor, satire. The Jewish Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party put out this publication.
There are cartoons, including one featuring Hitler in a bed decorated with swastikas, being brought a glass of orange juice in a Yahrzeit glass. The front cover illustration shows a person swinging an eagle [with a Jewish star on one wing, and a swastika on the other] as if it were the chicken used for the Kapporah ceremony before Yom Kippur. The back cover has a large [rich] overweight man pulling a religious Jew by the straps of his tefillin. The text reads - He who helps the poor, save us. [Not so subtly showing how the poor are exploited].
