Detailed
Description
A kasida or qasida is an Arabic poem, usually in mono-rhyme, that may be satirical, elegiac, threatening, or laudatory. This work is a memorial to those Jews who perished in the Holocaust followed by grace for the survivors. The author, R. Raphael b. Maklouf Edrehi, was rabbi in Fez and descendant of a prominent Moroccan rabbinical and kabbalist family. He wrote Heituve Nagan (Fez, [1929]) liturgical poetry and hymns for the holidays and festive occasions, all unique to Moroccan Jewry.
