Detailed
Description
Addressed to the Mizrahi seeking financial assistance for a shohat to provide kosher meat for the moshav. R. Abraham Jacob b. Aaron ha-Kohen Orlansky (1879-1929) was born in Bialystok and came to Erez Israel at the age of four. His father was the first rabbi of Petah Tikvah. R. Abraham Jacob was sent to Jerusalem , where he received his education from such notables as R. Hayyim Berlin, R. Jehiel Mekhel Horowitz, R. Nahum Wallenstein, and R. Pesah Zvi Frank (eventually his brother in law). In 1911 he returned to Petah Tikvah and resided there until 1919 when he was appointed rabbi of Zichron Yakov where he served until his vicious murder by Arabs in Hebron in 1929. It is related, that he, his wife, and young daughter were Sabbath guests at the house of his brother in law, R. Eliezer Dan Slonim, in Hebron. During the morning prayer services, as he was blessing the assembly, the murdering Arabs broke into the house, stabbed him and killed the entire family, may their blood be avenged by the Al-Mighty
