Detailed Description |
|
Benjamin Lee Gordon (1870-1965) eloquently described three themes in New Judea: the history of Jewish national revival in the nineteenth century; emergence of a new Jewish life in Palestine, exemplified in the rise of agricultural colonies and educational institutions; and the basis for Israel's claim on the Holy Land. What impressed Gordon most was the land's resurgence- "wherever I turned I saw a real new Judea transformed from an old land by the will of young pioneers." The author details conditions in Palestine, and the efforts that contributed to the resettlement in the Holy Land.
