Description
   Announcement of a prize to be awarded for Du Sacrifice d’Abraham. The preprinted form states that it is Distribution des Prix (Distribution of the Prize). It is dated 4 September a 4 heures precises (precisely at 4:00). Ella sera precede and then stampedon in bold letters Du Sacrifice d’Abraham. It then states, Je vous prie, MM de vouloir bien m’honorer de votre présence, that is, it equests your prescence at the award ceremonies. At the bottom is the name of the awarding organization, A l'Enseignement du Sieur Combert, Institeur, and the place, hotel Aguille, and the year, 1827. The place and last digit of year are written in.

The sacrifice of Abraham for which this award is given would appear to refer to the patriarch Abraham’s offering Isaac as a sacrifice (Genesis 22:1-19). A popular subject in art, it has painted by Caravaggio (1573-1610), Rembrandt van Rijn (Dutch, 1606-1669), Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530, Florentine artist), Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530, Florentine artist), Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (Italian Artist, 1669-1770), Laurent de La Hire (French artist, 1606-1656), Gustave Doré (French illustrator, 1832-1883), William Blake (ca. 1820), Alfred Hallett (1914-1986), and Marc Chagall.
