Description		    Important holocaust work written during the war by R. Issachar Solomon Teichtel. The title page has a lengthy text, beginning, Em ha-Banim Semehah (“a joyful mother of children,” Psalms 113:9) is founded on our redemption and the salvation of our souls from this the last exile after what the L-rd our G-d and G-d of our fathers sought from us and commanded us to do to hasten the redemption as is explained on every issue. R. Teichtel was previously av bet din in Budapest and author of the responsa Mishnah Sakhir in many parts and other works. There is a letter from R. Solomon Dov Heller and and a hazcora (remembrance) for several individuals. Next are several unusually long approbations, two introductions and a preface from the author. Em ha-Banim Semehah is on the exile and redemption with accompanying essays at the end on Shabbat, written by a leading rabbi at the time of the holocaust.

Em ha-Banim Semehah is an unusually rare book, being printed in central Europe during the war, very few copies surviving. R. Teichtel, who initially opposed the Zionist movement and the resettlement of Jews in Erez Israel, witnessing the horrors of Nazi rule and murder in Europe, and despairing of European Jewry’s future, expresses the belief that the very rejection of Zionism may have played a role God’s permitting the massacre of European Jewry. R. Teichtel was deported to Auschwitz but was murdered on route by Ukrainians in the railway car with him.
