Description
R. Shalom b. Aaron Kutna (1826-1909) was born in Tatce and studied under the Ktav Sofer. He served in several prestigious communities before settling in Eisenstadt in 1870 where he remained until his passing. An erudite scholar he wrote many responsa and novellae, primarily on important current issues, printed are: Kol al haMayim (Vienna 1886) responsa on the use of steam driven mills for Passover matzoh flour; Mispad Tamrurim (Paks 1894), eulogy on R. Zalman Spitzer of Vienna; Ve-ka-Torah Jaseh (Paks 1897-99), responsa on intermarriage and conversion; Shalom uBracha (Germany 1904) on cremation; Ateret Shalom veEmet (Paks 1894-1906) novellae and homiletics.
